Letter HE - Steen's support for war

12.00.00am BST (GMT +0100) Fri 16th Jul 2004

Dear Editor,

In your report on the Butler report ( July 15th.) you say that Anthony Steen voted against the Iraq war in defiance of his party whip.

Hansard reports that he voted for the Prime Minister's motion supporting the use of military action to deal with the problem of weapons of mass destruction. It would appear that either Hansard is wrong or that you owe Mr. Steen an apology for suggesting he defied the party whip and did not support the war.

Yours sincerely,

Mike Treleaven
