Totnes Liberal Democrat discusses Iraq with party leader.

12.00.00am GMT Fri 7th Mar 2003

Last Monday Totnes Liberal Democrat Parliamentary Spokesperson visited Liberal Democrat Party Leader, Charles Kennedy, at Westminster where the subject of Iraq dominated the discussion.

' I was able to tell Charles of the wide support there is in the constituency for the Liberal Democrat position on Iraq and the respect for the party that his constant questioning and probing of the Prime Minister has brought' said Mike Treleaven. He continued ' He confirmed his intention to continue along the same route demanding full support of the United Nations and the British Parliament before even contemplating military action - a position I fully endorse. The report from Hans Blix today indicates that progress has been made on disarmament and that allowing the inspectors to continue the process would bring results. I think they should be given the chance.
