Liberal Democrats retain seat on Totnes Town Council with large majority12.00.00am GMT Thu 11th Mar 2004 Liberal Democrat Candidate, Tony Phillips, today won the vacant Bridgetown seat on Totnes Town Council with a large majority. Tony, has 8 years experience of being a Councilor and lives in the ward. He is looking forward to working hard for the people of Totnes and Bridgetown in particular. Speaking after his victory Tony said: ' I am delighted to have been chosen to join my Liberal Democrat Colleague, Geoff Date, to represent Bridgetown on the Town Council. Liberal Democrats have a reputation for getting things done and working for local people all the year round. There are many important issues to be decided in Totnes and I shall be working hard for my constituents to ensure their voice is heard' Commenting on Tony's election Totnes Liberal Democrat Parliamentary Spokesperson, Mike Treleaven said: ' Tony will be a great asset to the Town Council. He has a wealth of Council experience and knows how local government works. I look forward to working with him as he joins the Totnes Liberal Democrat team and I know the people of Bridgetown will benefit from Tony's enthusiasm and hard work'
